MARCH 2019

Outstanding service!

“Once again we returned to Mezzanine Boutique hotel for a week’s stay in January. I love everything about this wonderful hotel. Upon arrival you are greeted with such warmth and welcome (not to mention a delicious welcome Margarita!) that you know immediately the cost of the stay is worth every penny. Lara, Ingrid, David and Maricela are the friendliest, most helpful and accommodating concierge staff we have ever worked with! Since the hotel is small, having only 9 rooms, the proximity to the staff is only steps away. This trip, we had the pleasure of having an ocean view room for part of our stay and it was spectacular! The ocean view room was only available for a few days so we moved into from our original non view room. The staff was very helpful in the transfer all of our things . The daily delivery of the morning coffee basket is wonderful and always on time ,as I had to leave early each morning for a spanish lesson. Without fail , it was promply delivered each morning. The evening turn down service is also lovely; delivery of herbal tea and some snacks along with fresh towels and implemtation of the aroma diffuser. Attention to small details are what makes this such a special place along with the staff that provide those lovely details. Another wonderful thing about the Mezzanine is the restaurant and its staff. First, the margaritas are the best I’ve had, every day the hotel host a 2 x1 margarita special from 1-4 p.m. Be sure to try some of the delicious Thai themed menu items! (Money bags appetizer is the best!)You won’t be disappointed. We were sad to see the special hamburger they had last year was no longer on the menu, but we were pleased to find out that we could still ask for it. Breakfast is wonderful as well. As for the service….honestly, I don’t know who or where has better. MILO, MILO, MILO! He was our guy! Ready with a smile and greeting us by name each and every time you seen him. Milo always provided excellent and quick service, whether it just drinks or full meal. Some of the other wonderful waiters that I recall by name are Christian and Andy, again welcoming and great service. I wish I would have made note of all the other servers because we never had anything less than stellar service. We also recieved drink coupons from each of the Mezzanine’s sister hotels in Tulum. We visited and ate a meal at La Zebra, Mi Amor, and El Pez. The food and drinks were wonderful at each one however the standout for service was El Pez. This trip we booked through the hotel two outstanding massages! They were wonderful, so relaxing especially with the backround sounds of the ocean and the dj music playing on the deck. The ocean in this area is easy access and usually the sand is perfect. This time there was some seaweed piles but the hotel did do its best to clean it each day, although it was a losing battle. Can’t fault them for Mother nature. We have such fond memories of this place and will definitely return again!”

Amazing Bar!

“My fiancé and I recently visited Tulum and we didn’t get a chance to come to Mezzanine until our last day and it was a mistake…we should have been there every day! The food was good but the drinks and the bar staff were truly special! The whole staff was very nice and helpful but Marco in particular was an amazing host. Not only was he inviting and hospitable but we allowed him (as if we were doing him a favor) to make us off menu cocktails and he blew us away! They were all remarkably well crafted and carefully balanced, a real master of his craft. Thank you Marco for a fantastic afternoon! We hope to return sometime soon!”

Best meal in Tulum

“This place is just pure beauty. The service, meals, views and experience is one I won’t forget.
Food was amazing and the presentation was amazing.
If you like Thia then you won’t be dissatisfied.

I wish I could go back.”

First time Thai food

“I had never had Thai food before and it was superb! My husband and I had no idea of what to order. However the manager Maricela who was so nice and attentive she was great help. She helped us pick out dishes to give us the full Thai experience without over doing the spiciness. We had money bags, spring rolls, pad thai and chicken satay. As you can see we had no room for dessert but there is no doubt in my mind it would have been delicious as well. Kudos to the chef excellent food and presentation. As well as the waiter Mauro, great service overall and facinating view. We will return for sure!”

Fantastic dining experience

“I ate at Mezzanine for dinner twice during my five day stay in Tulum. The setting was understated, but beautiful on a starlit night, waves crashing to show just feet away.

Service was as gentle and lovely as the Mayan people of Tulum and as solid as any fine restaurant back home in NYC.

And, while Thai food might. It be the first thing you’d expect here, it is fantastic. Beautifully presented, fresh, delicious.

I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to return to Mezzanine!”

Perfection continues

“This was our fourth stay at Mezzanine and it continues to get better each time. I always feel hesitant to write a review as we want this place all to ourselves but I understand that it helps hem and they definitely deserve it.

I’ll keep this one short as I’ve reviewed it every year and there’s nothing really of importance that I could ask for them to change as they do all the little things right!

Mezzanine is not for families (no kids) and that’s one reason we love it among a million other reasons! It only has 8 rooms, because of this you get great service and at the same time it’s very subtle, never annoying. The energy and feel of all the Colibrique boutique hotels are very similar but we have to say Mezzanine and Mi Amor are our favs!

Unlike big hotels you don’t have to fight for beach chairs or any spaces, Mezzanine, even though it’s fairly small has all of these very cool spots to lounge, suntan, have a cerveza or share a bottle of wine, do yoga, have your morning coffee ☕️ and all are right in front of the beautiful ocean. No long walks, you open your room door and you have a spectacular view. Need help the concierge are steps away, no need for phones. The sunrises are breathtakingly beautiful, you get a wonderful basket at your door in the morning so you can watch the sun come up and drink your java.

The rooms are beautifully designed and have a classy Mexican feel with unique items, the smell of the rooms are also fantastic as they use organic essential oils with a diffuser. You also get a nightly turn down service that puts a big smile on your face, beautiful tea and a couple of sweet treats.

To all the problem that work there, we love all of you, you’re all very special, thank you for making us feel so special and being very honest and real. Special shout outs to David, Marciela and Britney, sorry if I spelled your names wrong 😩

The drinks and the Todd are top notch, everything is fresh and attention to detail is number one. The restaurant is Thai infusion and there is not a bad dish, everything we ordered was delicious, the Money bags was always one of our fav share appy’s but again anything you order will be good! 4 years in a row and never had a bad experience.

The happy hour on the deck is great, awesome energy and the music is chill, relaxed and even better when the DJ shows up never too loud and always chill house music.

The location is one of the best as you have the beach area right next to you and the water is gorgeous however I will caution you to check on the sargassum as this has been an issue over the last few years. This trip it was very good, however it can change, If this is a big deal for you I recommend checking the conditions first. As I stated the water was clear and beautiful however they’re still cleaning up a lot of sargassum but it’s been moved away from the beach walking areas at least, I hope this goes away soon as last year when we went it was pretty bad. Regardless though the hotel, staff, food and drinks are with the trip!

You will get free drink tickets for visiting their other Properities (all are beautiful) and I highly recommend going to all of them for food and drinks!”

Suits any type

“What is is that you want? It has it all.
The PLACE itself is amazing
The DRINKS are delicious and not overpriced
The FOOD came down from heaven
VIBE? Perfectly adjusted to it’s beautiful VIEW on the BEACH
The MUSIC is well adapted to the time of the day (also have live DJ)
The SERVICE is super professional (the best I’ve seen in Tulum and by far). *Gotta mentioned my highlight: MILO the neatest server

I could go on. I’ve been around Tulum (beach and city)..THIS IS MY FAVORITE PLACE. I’ve been either ALONE, WIT FRIENDS, FAMILY, or to MEET PEOPLE. I liked it every times, differently.

Try it out!”

A perfect start to our honeymoon

“My wife and I had the best time at Mezzanine and enjoyed everything about it. The terrace that overlooks the ocean. The coffee in the morning waiting at your door. The beautiful touch to every interior design feature. The really quiet air-con. The cozy hammocks. The yummy in-house Thai cuisine. And of course the wonderful staff that were so friendly and helpful (looking at you, Gaby). Would go again in an instant.”

Thank you to the awesome staff

“Visited Mezzanine with my father for several days and we had a wonderful time. The staff (Arissio, Jose and Milo – everyone, really) were always so welcoming and kind. They truly care about their customers experience and are all stars in good hospitality. I hope to visit again soon. Thank you!!!! We miss being there already!”

Excellent service!

“Stayed for about a week over New Years. Beautiful location on the beach, delicious Thai food and drinks, clean and comfy sea view room with two levels. The staff is so friendly and helpful in every way, especially Britny, David and Marco. The beach did have seaweed but there are also Cenotes and Ruins to explore nearby. The hotel reserved a parking spot for my rental car, it was easy to come and go. My favorite time of day was the tea service in the evening with local chocolate and nuts.”

So much fun!

“Came here with friends for the new year. We had a blast. It was an awesome location, great service, amazing food and drink, great prices! It really was the perfect spot for a great experience in Tulum!”

MILO

“We had 3 fantastic days at Mezzanine. It certainly has the WOW factor. Amazing interiors, delicious Thai food, seriously good cocktails, sublime views,Cristal waters etc. Most importantly, the staff ( especially MILO), outstandingly good host, attentive, charasmatic, charming and made our visits a total pleasure. We look forward to our next visit.
Thanks MILO.

Great option, maybe one of the best in Tulum but, …

“The hotel has 9 rooms and a trendy restaurant.
You are directly on the beach.
Great location if you are ok to cycle to town or take taxis whose price is to be negociated before the trip. The hotel is located right in the national reserve and closer to Tulum’s ruins than the city.

Over New Year, on the beach, unlucky for us, there was loads of Sargassum… which the locals cannot keep up the pace at removing them or fail to be efficient at it.

The restaurant of the hotel had a DJ every day from lunch to the late afternoon. Even if you can enjoy secluded areas for guests only, the hotel is really not quiet and private. It is groovy and noisy. You need to be ok with that.

You pay extra for everything. Breakfast is not included in the rate. And a liter of sparkling water is close to 9$US!!!! Bicycles about 10$US for 24hours !
So when you pay $700US a night for a room that is not really big even if it is ocean view… you would really expect that all the rest come for free. Or just charge another 60$ per day and include everything!!

It feels horrible to have to sign all the time and frankly local labor force is rather cheap so one can only imagine the huge profit the owners are doing on our backs.

Another thing is that even if Mezzanine is a great option in Tulum, the hotel seriously needs refurbishment if it wants to keep charging that kind of rates.

What makes it great though is its staff team… from the reception to the resto waiters, everyone is so kind and attentive that you feel privileged and happy to be there. They make you forget the outrageous room rate for such an ordinary product and the fact that you pay extra for literally anything.”

Thai flavours in Mexico are spot on!

“Happened upon this beach front spot while walking from the Tulum ruins.
Fantastic tamarind margaritas and some of the best larb I’ve had
The view was perfect and of course the breeze of the water kept us cool. Lovely patio”

Lovely stay at Mezzanine

“Spent a couple of nights at Mezzanine in December, and it was the perfect weekend holiday! The property sits above the beach, so views are gorgeous pretty much from everywhere. I loved me suite – it had ocean views, a huge tub, clean linens and everything was designed with Tulum whites and tans. It felt very Tulum! I dined at the resort’s restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, and both meals were delicious. Would definitely stay here again!”

DECEMBER 2018

Truly, the greatest trip of our lives.

“I don’t know where to start… My husband and I stayed here in December of 2017 as a trip we had saved up for, both in time and finances. I had done my research on where to stay and Mezzanine fit the bill. Quiet, and on the far end of town it was our last stop of the Yucatan and meant to be restful. And it was!

We were greeted in such a welcoming way and were asked which essential oils we preferred in the room. We saved up for a balcony suite and were given the best room with the most privacy. Each night, we were brought tea and a turn down service. All of our reservations for dinner were made by the front desk, we didn’t have to lift a finger. They set us up at the wonderful restaurant, Kitchen Table, across the street and it was one of the best meals we had on the trip.

The restaurant of the hotel was divine and we enjoyed sunsets from our balcony or from the restaurant balcony. Lovely service.

During the day, I would sit in the hammock reading a book and typically had the whole balcony landing to myself! One of the days, the staff came down to let me know that he had noticed our rental car tire had gone flat. After driving all over the Yucatan, it was bound to happen. Of course, our rental car company wouldn’t cover it (despite paying a whole lot of insurance!) and we were a bit torn on what to do. The manager said “not to worry!” and had our tire removed, taken to town, fixed, and placed back on by lunch. It was an incredible moment in our time there, as all I had wanted was to remove myself from the stress of things at home. Mezzanine made something that could have been a total bust on our trip into an absolute labor of love and care.

We loved walking down the set of stairs to the beach and enjoying the walk throughout the day.

Little elements of being called by our names, and being checked in on whenever we came back to the hotel really reassured us that Mezzanine cares for their guests. It was service we haven’t experienced before in our other trips and we know we will be back in a heartbeat.

We’re very grateful to the staff of Mezzanine, they made our trip.”

40th Anniversary Visit

“Had the best time at the hotel. The view and the food was just amazing as was the service. Alessio, Jose, Alex, Idhan….all of them very friendly and gave extraordinary service…..thank you for making out first visit to Tulum so memorable”
